Social Communities and Networks \ Non-profit association community
The association provides high-quality, timely telecommunications-related education and training to member managers, directors, and employees in the form of seminars, conferences, concurrent sessions and round table discussion groups at association’s meetings and in stand-alone venues. The association offers online training programs as well.
The essence of the site’s exploitation encompasses the network of people who communicate in the authored user zone. Once a user is registered he becomes a member and gets the access to the following set of tools: a personal extended profile, a personal area with a theme content and personal customized page, and personal workspace with the private content areas. Anyone can conduct a search and surf the site’s content. A user writes posts, adds friends and leaves comments for them as well as he can send a ‘Thank you’ message, search for job vacancies, view lists and info closed for unauthorized users. The administrator of the site can also take an active part in the community life like, for instance, he can post any message into any user’s profile. And a member can also leave a message on his profile in order for others to see and read.
The community uses the Joomla!® content management system as a most usable solution. In addition we added several components to facilitate the operating of the site. For example, we implemented the bridge component that was used for synchronization of Joomla and vBulletin (that enables the site’s forum) without modifying their core files.
The community represents the production of our forces of a fairly professionally built site with the execution of the customer’s ordered functionality. In 2006 the association counted 575 members, a number that the site steadily gains and thus helping the community to develop.
