We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 8 years of experience to take engineering ownership of the core components of product for Compliance - the architecture of the telemetry pipeline, data processing, and risk scoring at scale. This is a strong Individual Contributor role: real engineering depth in distributed backend, streaming, and data-intensive systems, combined with solid product sensibility and the ability to translate product and business needs into sound architectural decisions. Responsibilities:
- Design and build distributed backend services for real-time telemetry processing and risk scoring at the scale of thousands of endpoints.
- Build and maintain event-driven, streaming-based pipelines (Kafka) — from ingestion through processing, enrichment, and response.
- Design data models and the right persistence layers over PostgreSQL and Redis, balancing latency, consistency, and throughput.
- Write, analyze, and optimize complex queries — improving query plans, indexing, and performance tuning on large databases.
- Develop and maintain large environments that process large volumes of data, with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks and improve existing processes and pipelines — for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Directly influence product and architectural decisions: translating business needs into technical trade-offs.
- Partner closely with DevOps on CI/CD, observability, and the reliability of services in production
Requirements:
- Backend experience: 8 years building production backend at scale, with a deep understanding of distributed systems.
- TypeScript: Strong command of TypeScript and the Node.js ecosystem, including building and maintaining complex services.
- Streaming (critical): Hands-on experience building event-driven / streaming pipelines, ideally with Kafka — designing topics, partitioning, consumer groups, and delivery guarantees.
- Databases & optimization: Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and Redis, with a strong emphasis on writing and optimizing complex queries, query tuning, indexing, and performance improvement.
- Big-data environments: Proven experience developing large environments that process large volumes of data, and improving their performance and processes.
- Product sensibility: Ability to connect engineering considerations to product/business value, and make architectural decisions accordingly.
- DevOps: Good familiarity with CI/CD, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability — and comfort working end-to-end.
